Widow Jane 13 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey
Widow Jane Distillery tells BourbonBlog.com that it has added Lucky Thirteen Bourbon to its range of year-round offerings. Lucky Thirteen will now be available year-round, though still in limited quantities. It will be made available in 750 ml bottles at a suggested retail price of $99.99

Lucky Thirteen is aged 13 years in American oak barrels hand-picked by Widow Jane President and Head Distiller Lisa Wicker and proofed with limestone-rich water from the legendary Rosendale Mines of NY.

Initially released as a private-single-barrel program at a variety of proofs, Lucky Thirteen will now be available exclusively at 93 proof (46.5% ABV) in hyper small batches, little more than a handful of barrels at a time, making this bourbon addition a unique expression of Widow Jane’s signature intense, complex profile.

Widow Jane president and distiller Lisa Wicker tells BourbonBlog.com that the blending process with these aged bourbons is fine and delicate and done in hyper small batches, and absolutely not chill-filtered.

“I see the ability to share really special expressions, like Lucky Thirtee, with whiskey geeks and industry friends as one of the real gifts of this profession. As our stock of well-aged bourbon beyond 10 years continued to mature, we were able to match Lucky Thirteen to our signature blending process, consisting of bourbons from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. This was a very natural evolution for us, to make a rich, complex bourbon, while upping the ante in proof to 93, versus our 10-year bourbon’s proof of 91,” Wicker says.

Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey: First Age-stated Whiskey In Over 100 Years

Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee releases Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey, the brand’s first 10-year age-stated whiskey in more than 100 years.

Jack Daniels 10 year old Tennessee Whiskey
The Jack Daniel Distillery tells BourbonBlog.com that the Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey, the brand’s first 10-year age-stated whiskey in more than 100 years. The limited-availability product, which will become an annual release, retails for $70 in a 750mL size with the first batch hitting shelves in limited quantities in early September 2021 across the United States.

Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher. evolved the distillery’s previous aged methods by maturing Jack Daniel’s iconic Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey in oak barrels that were relocated throughout the barrelhouse to extend the aging process over the past ten years.

The distillery tells us it is a more complex, hand-crafted whiskey with a rare flavor profile. Bottled at 97 proof—a first for the Jack Daniel Distillery—Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey 10-Year-Old features notes of dry fig and raisin laced with oak on the nose, warm butterscotch alongside soft fruit and smoke on the palate, and an incredibly long finish with sweet tobacco and spice.

“Over the last decade, we’ve been experimenting to craft a product that would properly honor the whiskey Jack Daniel was bottling at the end of the 1800’s,”  Fletcher tells BourbonBlog.com. “All of us at the Jack Daniel Distillery are thrilled to release an age-stated whiskey for the first time in over 100 years to be enjoyed by all. This product has been hand-crafted by our distillery team in Lynchburg over the last 10 summers all while keeping up with the growing demand for Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey around the world.”

The 10-Year-Old bottle design is also inspired by the brand’s history, featuring a hand-drawn iteration of the original cartouche that appeared on Jack Daniel’s aged-stated bottles a century ago.

Basil Hayden Toast Bourbon Whiskey – Brown Rice in the Mash Bill

Basil Hayden Toast is a new Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey from Jim Beam with a mash bill that was created by Freddie Noe. It used a toasted secondary barrel and replaces the rye in the recipe with US-grown brown rice.

Basil Hayden Toast Bourbon Whiskey

Basil Hayden tells BourbonBlog.com they are launching Basil Hayden Toast, a super-premium Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and the newest addition to Basil Hayden portfolio. With a new mash bill that consists in part of brown rice to create a taste that is both familiar and new bourbon drinkers.

Basil Hayden Toast is now available in the United States at a suggested retail price of $49.99 / 750 mL.

How The Bourbon is Made

Crafted by eighth-generation Beam family distiller, Freddie Noe, Basil Hayden Toast represents a reimagining of Basil Hayden with the use of a toasted barrel.

In lieu of traditional rye grain, Basil Hayden Toast is made using US-grown brown rice, which imparts a hint of sweetness and a touch less spice, while a secondary toasted barrel finish draws out notes of caramelized sugar and toasted wood.

After aging, the toasted brown rice bourbon is blended back with more brown rice bourbon, which has been rested in level four char barrels, to achieve a final product that the brand says has a complex flavor grounded in sweet vanilla and rich roasted notes.

Basil Hayden Whiskey Toast

“Basil Hayden Toast is truly a whiskey for fans of all taste and experience levels to share. When my grandfather Booker Noe first made Basil Hayden, his intention was always to create bourbon that opened people’s minds to what bourbon can be. Inspired by his mission, I’ve spent many years working to produce a new bourbon that speaks to this sense of discovery,” Freddie Noe tells BourbonBlog.com.

“The unexpected addition of brown rice, as well as the toasted barrel finish of Basil Hayden Toast does just that. It delivers an intriguing avenue into the warm and memorable bourbon sipping occasion.”

The release of Basil Hayden Toast marks the debut of a new monogrammed metal belt hat that encircles the bottle. This new packaging will be featured across the portfolio,

“World First Irish Whiskey Single Barrel” – WhistlePig Expands Whiskey Portfolio with Limavady

WhistlePig joins forces with Darryl McNally and Limavady Irish Whiskey to fulfill his dream of creating the world’s first Single Barrel Irish whiskey. The addition of Limavady, alongside WhistlePig’s collection of groundbreaking Rye Whiskeys, marks the company’s growth from the leading independent American Whiskey to a global craft portfolio.

The post “World First Irish Whiskey Single Barrel” – WhistlePig Expands Whiskey Portfolio with Limavady first appeared on BourbonBlog.

WhistlePig tells BourbonBlog.com it has joined forces with Darryl McNally and Limavady Irish Whiskey to fulfill his dream of creating the world’s first Single Barrel Irish whiskey.

The addition of Limavady, alongside WhistlePig’s collection of Rye Whiskeys, marks the company’s growth from the leading independent American Whiskey to a global craft portfolio.

WhistlePig will manage bottling and distribution of the whiskey under McNally’s direction, helping Limavady establish the Single Barrel Irish category, much the same way that WhistlePig has done with aged and experimental Rye. McNally will directly manage the production and innovation.

Limavady is poised to begin selling in select markets throughout the United States, United Kingdom, and Northern Ireland as soon as August. In the United States, Limavady will be distributed through WhistlePig’s existing distribution partners, which include Republic National Distributing Company, BreakThru Beverages, and Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, with an SRP of $49.99 per 700ml bottle.

“We originally met Darryl at an industry event and then stayed in touch over the years. When we understood his desire to reimagine the category and learned of his plans to revive Limavady Whiskey, we jumped at the opportunity to partner with him,” Jeff Kozak, CEO, of WhistlePig tells BourbonBlog.com.

“We visited Limavady and experienced the historic distillery grounds. While the brand draws its inspiration from the past, we are looking to the future of Limavady as Darryl takes Irish whiskey to the next level.”

Limavady PiggyBack 10 Year

Both WhistlePig and Limavady push the boundaries of what their respective categories are defined by.

WhistlePig led Rye in maturation and Farm-to-bottle distilling, while Limavady will epitomize Single Barrel Single Malt, showing the world how distinctive and high-quality Irish Whiskey can be. WhistlePig believes Irish whiskey is a category that needs to stretch and breakthrough stereotypes established by industry giants.

The award-winning Rye Whiskey company also feels Irish Single Malt, and moreover Single Barrel deserves the same recognition as both Single Malt scotch and craft American Whiskey.

“I’ve been working in the Irish whiskey industry for a long time and reclaiming the Limavady whiskey name has been a long-held dream of mine, so finally bringing it to market is already a huge leap for me but teaming up with a visionary company like WhistlePig to do so makes it even more exciting. Forward-thinking and not afraid to push the boundaries of innovation, WhistlePig is the perfect match for Limavady, and I couldn’t wish for a better partner in taking Irish Whiskey to new heights,” says Darryl McNally, Master Distiller, Limavady Irish Whiskey.
