Bacardi-owned Angel’s Envy has some unfinished business – specifically, their newest release, a six-year-old cask strength Bottled-in-Bond bourbon that will be available exclusively at the Angel’s Envy distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.

Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bottled-in-Bond Act is bottled at 50% alcohol by volume [100 proof] – but only after some barrels were filled at a lower entry-proof of 103 (51.5% ABV) during the maturation process in 2018 and then placed in a warehouse where the proof dropped, and 27 of these low-proof barrels were blended with two high-proof barrels from the same season.

Only 12,000 bottles of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bottled-in-Bond are being made available exclusively at the downtown Louisville distillery for $55 per 375ml bottle.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, a family-owned and operated craft distillery in Louisville, announces the release of Batch 1 of its Toasted Bourbon. We are big fans of Peerless. Father and son founded and run since Day 1. Their heart and soul are in every drop of whiskey they’ve ever made. Never sourced. They’re doing it right and putting out some great liquid.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY: The 110 proof release will take place with Batch 1 on March 16, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Peerless Distillery located at 120 North 10th Street. SRP being $124. Toasted Bourbon will then begin distribution in Kentucky and eventually, nationwide. The first 100 bottles sold will include a specially numbered label. Bottle signings will be offered at the distillery from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. There is a two-bottle purchase limit per person.

Aged In 2 Separate Oak Barrels

Peerless Toasted Bourbon is aged in two separate oak barrels. It is initially aged in the distillery’s standard, char level 3 barrel. This process develops the desired flavor profiles of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. The already barrel-aged whiskey is then placed in a toasted barrel to finish. The toasted barrel adds more complexity with honey, vanilla, toasted spices, and chocolate. The unique aging process allows for an elevated nose and palate.

“We hand-select each barrel for the finishing process. We chose to use a medium toast because it contains less tannins, which results in a more aromatic whiskey with warm, sweet, savory character and strong vanilla overtones,” explains Peerless Head Taster John Wadell.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company is open to the public Monday through Saturday for tours and tastings in Louisville, Kentucky. For more information and to book reservations, visit kentuckypeerless.com.

About Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. The family-owned and operated craft distillery is located in Louisville, Kentucky. It was established in 1889 and resurrected in 2013 by Corky Taylor, 4th Generation, and Carson Taylor, 5th Generation. The distillery is known for its commitment to producing handcrafted, sweet mash bourbon and rye whiskey using traditional methods and the finest ingredients.

Today, Peerless operates under the same distilled spirits number, DSP-KY-50, with the same historically superlative standards. It has opted to craft entirely in-house without outsourcing or comprising. “We’re driven by quality, not profit,” says Corky Taylor. “We’re very serious about making the best product we can.”

NEW RELEASE: Old Forester “1924”, OLDEST Expression in Whiskey Row Series Is Now Available

Old Forester (Louisville, KY) announced this week the newest release in its coveted and award-winning Whiskey Row Series – 1924.  This 10-year-old age-stated bourbon is 100 proof, comprises a new mash bill for the brand, and is the OLDEST AGED expression to date in the Whiskey Row Series. old

Different Mash Bill: Available nationwide, this marks the fifth installment in the Whiskey Row Series. Rather than the traditional Old Forester recipe (72% corn; 18% rye and 10% malted barley), 1924 debuts a new mash bill (79% corn; 11% rye and 10% malted barley).

The bottle marks an important point in Old Forester’s 153-year history.

During Prohibition, more than 200 distilleries in Kentucky alone were forced to close. Old Forester, however, continued operations because the federal government issued it one of six permits to bottle existing whiskey stocks as medicine. In 1924, Old Forester acquired barrels from closed distillers, with different mash bills, and bottled that liquid as Old Forester. This special release commemorates that moment in time.

old

This release honors the 100th anniversary of that whiskey innovation.  Old Forester is the only bourbon brand produced before, during and after Prohibition.

“We are honored to commemorate this historical milestone with a new featured mash bill and a beautiful 10-year age statement,’ Master Taster Melissa Rift said. “It allows whisky lovers to taste just how dynamic our brand can be while staying rooted in our rich history.”

The Whiskey Row series now includes:

●      1870 Original Batch

●      1897 Bottled in Bond

●      1910 Old Fine Whisky

●      1920 Prohibition Style

●      1924 10-Year-Old

Each highlights a distinguishable moment in the brand’s 153-year history garnering its place in the series and standing among Old Forester’s legacy.

Taste notes (Brand Provided):

Color: Dark graham cracker.

Aroma: Soft notes of fudge, cocoa, marzipan, and cured tobacco layered over

hints of rich oak and warm cinnamon.

Flavor: Chocolate-covered graham cracker dusted with cinnamon.

Finish: Hints of spice and graham cracker crumbles.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY: Old Forester 1924 is 50% ABV (100-proof) and is available nationwide starting today at participating retailers and at Old Forester Distilling Co. for $115. Bottles are available for purchase with tours during January at Old Forester Distillery. A limited number of bottles are available at select bars and retailers.

The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience (EWBE, est 2013) in downtown Louisville is celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary. It’s an important milestone and a substantial metric as they were truly the brand that kicked off the Bourbon experience boom in the Bourbon City.

Hard to imagine now, but prior to 2013, there was not one publicly opened Bourbon brand experience in Louisville. Heaven Hill had its behemoth Bernheim Distillery as did Brown-Forman its mass churning whiskey site, but both producers did not offer public tours at these large scale production locations. Along came the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, christening the Bourbon tourism wave that has swept over the Derby City and is in full swing.

Now, there are at least 10 distillery and Bourbon experiential destinations in Louisville. Now, you can stay in Louisville and have days worth of amber entertainment and site seeing, all within a 10 minute drive radius. We’re not saying EWBE invented this concept, other brands had the wheels in motion. But it was the first tourism driven Bourbon concept and significant investment to open its doors going back a decade ago.

Evan Williams 10 year Single Barrel Bourbon: Commemorative Edition

Heaven Hill is offering a special 2013 10th Anniversary Evan Williams Vintage Single Barrel Barrel at 110 proof. This unique bottle is hand dipped in silver wax and features imagery of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience on its specially designed label and tag. Each bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon includes handwritten label notes detailing the exact day it was put in an oak barrel to age, the barrel number, and the date it was bottled.

“We are proud to be one of the leaders in returning Whiskey Row to its original glory in the heart of downtown Louisville,” said Jodie Filiatreau, Artisanal Distiller at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. “This commemorative bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage is a completely unique offering fitting of such a momentous occasion.”

This edition is comprised of 10-year-old Bourbon that was barreled in August, October, or December of 2013. The barrels were aged on the second floor of Rickhouse LL at the Schenley location. The mashbill for this edition is comprised of Heaven Hill Distillery’s traditional Bourbon Mashbill comprised of 78% corn, 12% malted barley and 10% rye.

Beginning Saturday, November 18, the limited-edition Bourbon will be available for purchase at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience for $109.99 and at select area retailers while supplies last.

BLOCK PARTY CELEBRARTION: Saturday, Nov 18th, the public is also invited to celebrate the anniversary with an open house featuring tours and tastings at the Experience along with a block party held down the street at Repurposed on Main (615 W. Main St.) from 12:00-4:00PM.

The Bourbon is matured in Heaven Hill’s rickhouses under the careful supervision of Master Distiller Conor O’ Driscoll, who monitors the progress of each year’s vintage to ensure it maintains its intended flavor profile and superb quality. Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon has won five “Whiskey of the Year” awards and is one of the most critically acclaimed specialty Bourbons produced by Heaven Hill Distillery, the world’s second largest holder of aging Bourbon.
