Rachel Ramirez, the leader of the cocktail team at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, Tennessee created this variation on the classic Old Fashioned using maple syrup and Nelson’s Green Brier Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whiskey.

2 ounces Nelson’s Green Brier Bottled in Bond

1/4 ounce maple syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters 

1 dash orange bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Strain into a rocks glass over one large cube. Express the oils from an orange peel over the top of the drink and insert the peel into the drink.

Maker’s Mark provided this recipe for a cocktail that’s perfect for batching, making it a winning choice for your Olympics watch parties.

·       2 parts Maker’s Mark Bourbon 

·       3/4 part honey syrup (Make with 2 parts honey to 1 part hot water)

·       3/4 part fresh squeezed lemon juice

·       Lemon wedge for garnish

Add Maker’s Mark, lemon juice and honey syrup to an ice-filled shaker, and give it a good shake. Strain over ice into rocks glass. Garnish with lemon wedge.

The classic Old Fashioned is usually made with Bourbon or Rye, but there’s nothing that says it can’t be made with a Scotch Whisky. The folks at Deanston supplied this variation on the Old Fashioned for National Old Fashioned Day June 14.

  • 1 ounce of Deanston Virgin Oak Whisky
  • 1 cube of brown sugar
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters
  • Splash of water
  • 2 ice cubes
  • Orange twist to garnish

Muddle the sugar and Angostura Bitters together in a glass with a splash of water. Add ice cubes and give it a good mix. Add a squeeze of orange zest and twist to garnish.

The folks at Kentucky’s Jeptha Creed Distillery created this cocktail to honor the upcoming 150th running of the Kentucky Derby.

2 ounces of Jeptha Creed Straight Four Grain Bourbon

½ ounce of St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

½ ounce of Cointreau

2 ounces of fresh squeezed orange juice

1 ounce of fresh pineapple juice

Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin with ice. Shake thoroughly and strain into a Collins glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange wheel.

Graton Resort & Casino’s head mixologist, Jessica Christensen, created this cocktail to reflect the beauty of Ireland and its lush landscape.

1 ½ oz Tullamore DEW (or other Irish whiskey)

½ oz Cointreau

1 ounce of lemon juice

½ ounce of simple syrup

¾ oz Aquafaba

1 teaspoon of Matcha powder.

  1. Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker.
  2. Dry shake (without ice) for about 15 seconds.
  3. Add ice to your shaker and shake again for about 10 seconds.
  4. Grab a chilled coupe glass and strain the cocktail into your coupe glass.
  5. Sift matcha powder over top of half of the cocktail, start from the outside, and work your way to the middle of the cocktail.

2 dashes of Coffee Pecan Bitters

2 dashes Black Walnut Bitters

Orange Peel

Add bourbon, maple and bitters to a mixing glass over ice. Stir for 30 seconds until cold. Strain liquid over fresh ice into a rocks glass and garnish with orange peel.

¾ ounce of Evan Williams Spiced Cider

1 ¼ ounces of Makers Mark 

2 dashes of Angostura Aromatic Bitters

Garnishes: Orange Peel, Smoked Cinnamon Stick, Star Anise

Add all ingredients, except for the garnishes, into a rocks glass. Add ice and stir for about 10-15 seconds. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with an orange peel, star anise, and a cinnamon stick. Express the oils of the peel over the cocktail and torch the end of the cinnamon stick until it smokes.

Our friends at Dewar’s shared this cocktail recipe ahead of Labor Day. It’s a hard variation of the Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonade), and makes a perfect highball.

●       1.5 ounces of Dewar’s 12 Year Old

●       1/2 ounce of peach liqueur

●       3/4 ounce of lemon juice

●       1/4 ounce of simple syrup

●       2 ounces of unsweetened green iced tea

Shake all ingredients and strain over fresh ice in a highball glass. Top with iced green tea. Stir gently to combine. Garnish with dehydrated peach and mint.

With National Whiskey Sour Day coming up August 25, the folks at Ireland’s Teeling Whiskey Company provided this recipe for a variation on the classic cocktail.

  • 2 parts Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • 1/2 part simple syrup
  • 1/2 of an egg white

Method: Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Shake until chilled and fine strain into a Rocks glass over ice.
