Dr. Bill Lumsden has been experimenting at both Ardbeg and Glenmorangie distilleries. His latest Ardbeg release, Heavy Vapours, involved taking part of the distilling system out of the picture just because he wanted to see what would happen if he did. Gordon & MacPhail Introduces 64-Year-Old Single Malt

UK-based bottlers Gordon & MacPhail have released a 64-year-old single malt as part of their Mr. George Legacy series which honors George Urquhart, an integral member of the Gordon & MacPhail family.

The Gordon & MacPhail Mr George Legacy 1957 comes from the Speyside distillery of Glen Grant and was matured entirely in a first-fill sherry butt made of American oak, bottled at 56.1% alcohol by volume [112.2 proof] and is said to contain notes of cherry, fruitcake, peat and smoke.

Only 298 bottles of Gordon & MacPhail’s Mr. George Legacy 1957 are being made available for $7,400 per bottle.
