Kentucky-based Michter’s has released US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye – showcasing the art of toasting, which heats the inside of the barrel at a lower temperature for a longer period of time.

Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye was initially fully matured in barrels then and transferred to secondary barrels made of wood that were air-dried outdoors for 24 months and toasted, not charred, then bottled at 54.5% alcohol by volume [109 proof] and is said to offer notes of black walnut, cherry, dark chocolate, honey, mint and salted caramel .

Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye is being made available beginning this month for $120 per bottle.

Popular bourbon brand, Maker’s Mark, is releasing Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged – their first-ever age-statement bourbon.

The 2023 version of Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged, will be the oldest Maker’s Mark whiskey to be released to date and is a blend of 87% 12-year-old whiskey with 13% 11-year-old whiskey that will be bottled at a cask strength 57.85% alcohol by volume [115.7 proof]. Typical Maker’s Mark Bourbons are bottled at six to seven years.

2023 Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged is being made available for $150 per bottle in the USA in September 2023 [along with London, Munich and select global travel retail venues in October 2023, and in Tokyo and Singapore in early 2024].
