There isn't much bourbon news so far this year so I'm dipping into the Irish Whiskey. Pernod Ricard brand Jameson has announced a new spirit called Jameson Orange that combines the brand's triple-distilled Irish Whiskey with natural orange flavor.

Kevin O'Gorman, Master Distiller at Irish Distillers says
Taste is at the heart of every sip of Jameson produced. Triple-distilled whiskey like ours involves a carefully crafted process, perfected since 1780. Jameson Orange builds on that craft and we are incredibly proud to share this exceptionally well-balanced Irish whiskey with both existing and new whiskey fans.

This new spirit comes in at 60 proof (30% alcohol). It is recommended neat, on-the-rocks, and in a range of mixed drinks (they specifically call out Sprite® or cranberry juice). This is expected to be released nationwide, however it is not currently listed on the OHLQ website. No MSRP was provided, but I expect it to be similar to regular Jameson ($24.99 + tax) or Jameson Cold Brew ($24.99 + tax).

My Take

I don't know anything about Irish Whiskey so I don't have a ton to add to this. If you're a big Jameson fan, and are looking for a flavored version, this could be a good fit. Additionally, if you're looking for an orange flavored mixer... this is your horse. As a bourbon fan, if I ever made my way to Irish Whiskey, I would start at the unflavored so this will be one I'll be sitting out.
