Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery was once Tennessee’s largest distillery in pre-Prohibition times. The great-great-great grandsons of Charles Nelson revived the family business in downtown Nashville, and have been making Tennessee whiskey along with sourced Bourbons and now, a Rye Whiskey. The distillery underwent a major expansion recently, and we’ll talk with co-founder Andy Nelson on this week’s WhiskyCast In-Depth. In the news, time is running short to avoid a return to Europe’s import tariffs on American whiskies, while a new Wild Turkey Bourbon features something different…three generations of Russells on the label.

Rabbit Hole Distillery (Louisville, KY) just announced the release of Seasong, a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in rum casks. Seasong is the latest release in the brand’s Distillery Series, a collection of limited-edition, small batch and cask strength whiskeys.

Seasong is a tribute to the age-old tradition of sea-bound rum transportation. Its name echoes the work songs of sailors who once voyaged across the Caribbean, shipping rum barrels along the way. Seasong is crafted from Rabbit Hole’s award-winning Heigold product. This High Rye Double Malt Bourbon is drawn from fewer than 15-hand toasted and charred barrels. It is finished in the very same rum casks that traveled the seas, inheriting aromas of nutmeg, allspice and ginger.
