House of Suntory has released a limited edition Yamazaki 55 – their oldest whisky to date – to the global travel retail market.

Suntory Yamazaki 55 is a blend of single malts, first aged in mizunara casks, followed by a further maturation period in white oak casks, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of fruit, sandalwood and smoke.

Only 100 bottles of Suntory Yamazaki 55 are being offered in select global travel retail locations – London, UK; Paris, France; Hainan, China; Hong Kong; Taipei, Taiwan; Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Seoul, South Korea; Istanbul, Turkey; Delhi, India; Singapore; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates – for $60,000 per bottle.

Additionally, Beam Suntory is donating $5,000 to The White Oak Initiative – a group dedicated to preserving the long-term sustainability of the USA’s white oak forests.
