Dublin-based Irish whiskeymaker Teeling has released the third entry in their Rising Reserve Series of limited edition 21-year-old single malts.

The third bottling in the Rising Reserve Series was aged for 18 years in ex-bourbon barrels, finished for three years in ex-ruby Port wine casks, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to offer notes of brown sugar, milk chocolate and orchard fruits.

Only 6,000 bottles of Teeling Rising Reserve Series #3 are being made available – initially in Ireland, then later in international markets – for $250 per 700ml bottle.

Bushmills Distillery has released eight single malt Irish whiskies – ranging from 10 to 223 years old – comprising their fifth annual Causeway Collection.

Three of the eight new whiskies are dubbed ‘innovative’ for Bushmills Irish Whiskey: the 10 Year Old Barolo, the 2010 Double Moscatel, and the 22 Year Old Mizunara.

Bushmills Barolo 10 Year Old is a Barolo wine cask finish while Bushmills 2010 Double Moscatel was initially matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry butts before being finished in two types of rare Portuguese Moscatel casks and bottled at a natural cask strength of 49.1% alcohol by volume [98.2 proof].

All eight whiskies in the 2024 Bushmills Causeway Collection have been bottled at cask strength and are being made available for between $100 – $505 per bottle.

Bushmills has released a 23-year-old Irish whiskey matured in Madeira wine casks, with one catch – it is intended to be exclusively for travel retail venues.

Bushmills 23 Year Old Madeira Cask was matured in Madeira oak casks for 23 years, bottled at 53.8% alcohol by volume [107.6 proof] and is said to offer notes of black coffee, peach and walnuts.

Bushmills 23 Year Old Madeira Cask is being made available initially at London’s Heathrow airport before expanding to other travel retail venues for $505 per bottle.

Redbreast has awakened from their last Dream with the release of a 38-year-old Irish whiskey – the seventh and final bottling in their Dream Cask Collection.

The Redbreast Dream Cask Zenith Edition was distilled in 1985 [a good year], matured for 27 years in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then moved to first-fill Oloroso sherry casks for the remainder of the maturation process, before being bottled at 45.3% alcohol by volume [90.6 proof] and is said to boast notes of blackcurrant, chocolate and vanilla.

Redbreast Dream Cask Zenith Edition is being made available for $1085 per bottle.

Midleton Very Rare takes the fifth – the fifth Irish whiskey in the Silent Distillery Collection, that is – Chapter Five of the Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection is a 49-year-old Irish whiskey that was originally distilled in 1973, two years before the Old Midleton Distillery ceased operations.

The single pot still Irish whiskey was matured in ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 52.4% alcohol by volume (104.8 proof) and is said to offer notes of almonds, citrus fruit, dark chocolate, ginger and herbal tea.

Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection Chapter Five is being made available for a whopping $55,000 per bottle in Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Singapore, the UK and USA.

Bushmills has released Bushmills 14 Year Old – a 14-year-old single malt Irish whiskey finished in Malaga wine casks.

Bushmills 14 Year Old was matured in both first and second-fill bourbon barrels for 14 years, finished for up to 12 months in Malaga casks, bottled at 40% alcohol by volume [80 proof] and is said to offer notes of cinnamon, honey and milk chocolate.

St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow – March 17, 2024 – but Jameson Irish Whiskey is beginning the celebration today with a big green bus that will tour throughout east London with BAFTA-award-winning Irish comedienne,, actress and brand ambassador Aisling Bea promoting the occasion.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, Bea will greet passengers onboard the double-decker bus, which is decorated in Jameson imagery and fitted with a bar where guests can enjoy Jameson, ginger and lime cocktails.

Potential passengers can get a seat on the bus by signing up to a competition on Jameson’s Instagram account or just observe the tour as it begins at The Auld Shillelagh in Stoke Newington, before making its way to the Swift Shoreditch for some Irish Coffee and then finishing up at Boxpark Shoreditch for a Paddy’s Day party.

After the conclusion of the tour, the bus will be parked outside London’s King’s Cross Station from 12pm to 6pm on St Patrick’s Day, where innocent passersby will be able to enjoy a free Jameson, ginger and lime cocktail, as well as the chance to win bar tabs and Jameson merchandise.

Jameson Irish whiskey has signed up with another Jameson – Kyle Jameson, a defender for Newport County – as part of their sponsorship deal with the English Football League (EFL).

Jameson plays in League Two of the EFL – the same league as the popular Wrexham – with Newport County is currently in 13th place in the 24-team league.

Jameson – the Irish whiskey, not the footballer – has a four-year deal as the official sponsor of the English Football League (EFL), running through to the 2026/27 season.

Jameson – the footballer, not the whiskey – is on his sixth team in his young career. The 25-year-old began at Premier League side, West Bromwich Albion in 2018-19 but has spent much of recent time playing with a variety of clubs at the National League and League Two levels.

A mere six years after investing in the Dublin-based Irish whiskey-making Teeling Distillery, Bermuda-based Bacardi has taken majority control of the distiller.

The percentage of Bacardi’s ownership stake was undisclosed but founders Jack and Stephen Teeling will continue to own a percentage of the business and run day-to-day operations.

Bacardi initially invested in The Teeling Whiskey Company in June 2017 and – beginning in January 2024 – Teeling will be distributed by Bacardi in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK with Sweden to be added in February and Belgium currently scheduled to be added in March.

Teeling remains the only Irish whiskey in Bacardi’s portfolio which includes its signature rum products as well as popular spirits in other categories such as vodka [Grey Goose], gin [Bombay Sapphire], tequila [Patrón] and blended Scotch whisky [Dewar’s] Scotch whisky.
