Ian Macleod Distillers has released a limited edition blended Scotch whisky created in a collaboration with a team of four students at Edinburgh-based Heriot-Watt University’s International Centre for Brewing and Distilling – the Ian MacLeod Blending Room 01: Heriot-Watt Release.

Ian MacLeod Blending Room 01: Heriot-Watt Release is a three-year-old blended Scotch whisky – 45% Speyside, 15% Highland and 40% Lowland – and finished for three months in a virgin American oak cask, bottled at 44.4% alcohol by
volume and is said to contain notes of chocolate, cinnamon, clove, coconut, coffee and toffee.

The four students who took part in the project were: Euan Martin, Matt Priaulx, Kellan Cowan, and Jake Adcook – each the recipient of the Dr Chris Greig Prize for the ‘Best distilling project by a Scottish student’ in 2021-2022.

Ian Macleod Blending Room 01: Heriot-Watt Release is being made available via Ian MacLeod’s official website for $40 per bottle.
