Highland distillery Fettercairn has released a limited edition 16-year-old single malt whisky finished in Port casks.
Fettercairn 16-year-old was matured in ex-bourbon casks for 14 years, then spent two more years languishing in ex-tawny Port pipes from the Douro Valley in Portugal before being bottled at 46.4% alcohol by volume [92.8 proof] and is said to offer notes of almond, blackberry, cacao, cherry, ginger and plum.
Only 24,000 bottles of Fettercairn 16-year-old are being made available in France, Germandy and the UK for $105 per 700ml bottle.
