Highland-based distillery, The Dalmore, has collaborated with design museum V&A Dundee on the Portfolio Series – a new whisky series designed to celebrate young Scottish artists. The first entry in the Portfolio Series comprises a trio of single malt whiskies. Edinburgh-based artist, Fraser Gray, was selected for this year’s edition, with his interpretation of The Dalmore distillery.
The Dalmore Portfolio Series No 1 (bottled at 46.8% alcohol by volume, 93.6 proof) was matured in Bordeaux wine casks and is said to contain notes of lemon, Manuka honey and vanilla. Only 5,000 bottles are being made available for $635 per bottle.
The Dalmore Portfolio Series No 2 (bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, 92 proof) was finished in casks from Châteauneuf-du-Pape in France and is said to offer notes of cranberry, licorice, ginger, pink grapefruit and vanilla. Only 2,000 bottles are being made available for $950 per bottle.
The Dalmore Portfolio Series No.3 is said to contain notes of bergamot, cedar and dark cacao and The Dalmore was granted access to an ‘iconic vineyard’ classified as Premier Grand Cru to finish the whisky. Only 1000 bottles are being made available for $1,250 per bottle.
All three The Dalmore single malts in the Portfolio Series are being made available exclusively at travel retail venues.
