Actor and musician Jamie Foxx purchased what was then Brown Sugar Bourbon from Washington State-based Heritage Distilling in 2021 and has revamped the recipe and packaging for the bourbon, which is now called Brown Sugar Blend (BSB). Foxx now owns the brand as part of a collaboration with Texas-based spirits incubator Wes Brands.

BSB was noted in its previous life for its sweet taste evoking brown sugar and cinnamon notes and is bottled at 35% alcohol by volume [70 proof].

The new packaging for BSB features a BSB chenille letter patch which glows in the dark.

BSB is being made available in the USA for $25 per 750ml bottle.

Iowa-based Templeton Distillery has released a bourbon called Fortitude – their first non-rye whiskey product since opening six years ago in the town of Templeton, Iowa.

Templeton Fortitude is produced with a mash bill of 55% corn, 40% rye and 5% malted barley, matured in first-fill American oak barrels, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of black pepper, butterscotch, caramel, citrus and vanilla.

Templeton Fortitude is being made available for $40 per bottle.

Glenmorangie has released a 25-year-old Scotch whisky single malt – Glenmorangie Pommard Cask Finish – but will only be available in the UK…for now.

Glenmorangie Pommard Cask Finish was finished in Pommard casks in 2008, bottled at 51.8% [103.6 proof] and is said to offer notes of apples, cherries, ginger, lemons and plums.

Only 1,000 bottles of Glenmorangie Pommard Cask Finish are being made available exclusively at Glenmorangie’s boutique at London’s Heathrow Airport Terminal 2, for a hefty $2650 per bottle.

Michter’s distillery is releasing the 2024 batch of their vaunted 10-year-old bourbon after initially withholding its release in 2022 due to low supply and has now released it two years in a row.

Michter’s Distillery initially withheld release of the 2022 batch as the distillery managed the low supply stock and released the 10-year-old rye instead in early 2023.

The 2024 batch of Michter’s popular single-barrel 10-year-old single barrel bourbon was bottled at 47.2% alcohol by volume [94.4 proof] and is being made available beginning this month for $185 per bottle.

Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition is an Irish whiskey blended from four cask types – ex-bourbon, Oloroso sherry butts, Portuguese tawny Port hogsheads, and European virgin oak – bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of almond, berries, orange peels and praline.

Alas, Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition is currently available only in Ireland – in Cork and Dublin – for $117 per bottle.

The Dalmore has collaborated with Scottish design museum V&A Dundee and released a pair of whiskies – The Collectible and The Rare – for their Luminary Series.

The Dalmore The Rare is a 49-year-old Highland single malt and it lives up to its name as only three were created for the whisky matured in ex-bourbon American white oak casks, finished in a blend of Port Colhieta 1963, Apostoles Sherry, select bourbon and hybrid casks before being bottled at 40.6% alcohol by volume [81.2 proof].

The Dalmore The Collectible is a 16-year-old Highland single malt, which is more readily available [20,000 bottles] and was matured in ex-bourbon casks, finished in a blend of Graham’s Tawny Port and Apostoles Sherry casks, and partially finished in peated, ex-refill bourbon casks before being bottled at 48.6% alcohol by volume [97.2 proof] and will be available for $345 per bottle.

Brown-Forman-owned Woodford Reserve has released a pair of bourbons – Sonoma Triple Finish and Batch Proof Series 121.2 – for travel retail venues.

Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Sonoma Triple Finish is finished in former Sonoma County Pinot Noir, brandy, and bourbon barrels previously used for aging red wine and is said to offer notes of cinnamon, pineapple and vanilla.

Woodford Reserve Batch Proof Series 121.2 originates from more than 100 different Woodford Reserve barrels, is bottled at 60.6% alcohol by volume (121.2 proof) and is said to offer notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, citrus, pecans and vanilla bean.

Both bourbons are being made available for $150 per bottle.

Torabhaig Cnoc Na Moine was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximenéz and Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to offer notes of, obviously, peat smoke, along with cedar, leather, pepper and vanilla.

Only 90,000 bottles of Torabhaig Cnoc Na Mòine are being made available for $70 per bottle worldwide.

Jack Daniel’s is bringing Jack and Ginger – in the form of Jack & Ginger Ale canned cocktail – to the party as the latest addition to the Tennessee distilling behemoth’s roster of ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails.

Jack & Ginger Ale, is available at 7% alcohol by volume [14 proof] with a single 355ml can being priced at $3.50 while a four-pack will be priced at $13.

Jack & Ginger Ale joins Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola, Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, and Jack Honey & Lemonade on the Jack Daniel’s RTD roster. Jack Daniel’s first released a Jack and soda RTD but then collaborated with Coca-Cola specifically in June 2022.
