Experience Columbus, the nonprofit that helps market and grow Columbus tourism, has announced the Columbus Distillery Trail that includes seven local distilleries. Participants who complete the trail will receive a t-shirt. This is similar to the other Columbus Trails that include the Columbus Coffee Trail, Columbus Ale Trail and the Made In Cbus Trail.

The list of participating distilleries are:
  • 451 Spirits – 590 Suite D, Oakland Park Ave.
  • Echo Spirits Distilling – 985 W. Sixth Ave.
  • Endeavor Brewing & Spirits – 909 W. Fifth Ave.
  • High Bank Distillery – 1051 Goodale Blvd.
  • Middle West Spirits – 1230 Courtland Ave.
  • Noble Cut Distillery – 750 Cross Point Rd. Suite K
  • Watershed Distillery – 1145 Chesapeake Ave. Suite D
Trail participants who check-in at four locations earn a cocktail mixer from Columbus-based Simple Times Mixers. As mentioned, participants who check-in at all seven earn a “The Proof is in the Proof” Columbus Distillery Trail t-shirt. If you are hip to the hashtags, Experience Columbus is recommending to document your journey using #CbusDistilleries.

My Take

It's never a bad thing to promote Columbus (and Ohio) businesses. So far, I haven't had the best luck reviewing Ohio bourbons and whiskeys... 451 Spirits Bone Shaker and Middle West Spirits Straight Rye scored a 64, however, there are so many varieties I'm excited to try. This seems like a win-win for the local distilleries and the local consumers.
