Campbeltown distillery Glen Scotia has released a scant few bottles of a 48-year-old single malt whisky.

Glen Scotia 48 Years Old was matured for 43 years in a mix of refill and first-fill bourbon barrels, transferred into a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead for another five years before finally being finished for six months in a second-fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead, then bottled at 40.8% alcohol by volume [81.6 proof] and is said to offer notes of apricot, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, peach, raisin, red apple and Seville orange.

Only a mere 250 bottles of Glen Scotia 48 Years Old are being made available worldwide for a whopping $13, 960 per bottle.
