Whisky pioneer and master blender, Silvano Samaroli is celebrated for his immense contribution to the whisky industry. However, nothing marks his mastery as the famous Flower Series whiskies.
In 1068 Silvano Samaroli founded the Samaroli Srl Wine and Spirits Merchants which operated as an importer of beverages. However, in 1979 the company changed its format and became the first non-British independent bottler of Scotch whisky. Debuting with the Samaroli Cadenhead Dumpies whisky brand.
A few years later, in 1981, the distillery produced its biggest hit, the Samaroli Flowers series. This special edition would establish the name of the distillery.
The Samaroli Flower Whisky Series
Notably, the Samaroli Flowers series is the most famous collection in the company’s history. Collectors from around the world are thrilled when they appear at auctions. The whisky contained in these bottles is not only incredible but also highly sought after.
The series was bottled by R.W. Duthie & Co and this was the start of a long relationship. R.W. Duthie & Co would handle Samaroli’s bottling operations since Scotch whisky must be bottled in Scotland.
There are several aspects of the Samaroli Flowers series, including the labels, designed by Samaroli. These labels feature various flowers in a timeless, simple style. Of all the whiskies in the Samaroli Flowers series, the Laphroaig 1967 15-Year-Old, and the Bowmore 1966 Bouquet stand out.
Several new Samaroli whiskies were released to the public in 2022, including Samaroli Spey, Samaroli Islay, and Laphroaig and Macallan Magnificos, distilled in 1997 and 1994, respectively.
A special sale at Whisky Auctioneer featured Samaroli whiskies such as the Laphroaig 1967, a 1952 Glen Cawdor, and the 1966 Bowmore Bouquet. Some of which were signed by Silvano. Sales ranged from £58,500 for a Bowmore Bouquet, to £40,000 for the Laphroaig 1967.
The Samaroli team has been honoring Silvano Samaroli’s memory by releasing cask strength, NAS, and high-quality whiskies. The secondary market for Samaroli bottles has also remained strong since Silvano Samaroli died.
