I picked up this Teeling Revival Volume IV Muscat Cask 15 Years a while ago for an event that never happened and so on the eve of my 40th birthday I cracked it open along with a birth-year Brora and a 40-year-old Armagnac. This Teeling was in good company that night.

Teeling Revival Volume IV Muscat Cask 15 Years Review

The other things on the table that evening were impressive, but what impressed me more was how well this stood out amongst them. I’ve been a long time Teeling fan, but this was something else and showed not just their whiskey-making skill, but their barrel finishing skills as well.

I don’t want to spoil the whole review up here, so let’s get to drinkin’ and properly examine this whiskey.

SUPER juicy, complex, fruit (lighter golden and orchard fruits) mixed fruit juice cocktail.

Malt, biscuity, golden raisins, caramel frosting, toasted bread, graham, complex orchard fruit (pears, apples, peaches), fruit juice, oak and a bit of spice.

More complex than aroma, this Teeling Revival Volume IV Muscat Cask 15 Years is juicy juicy juicy. Wow.

Med-long -> White grape juice, honey graham, orchard fruit and lightly spiced oak fade.

BALANCE, BODY and FEEL
Great balance, med-full body, and a silken-oily feel.

Teeling Revival Volume IV Muscat Cask 15 Years – Overall Thoughts and Score

Juicy, nuanced and filled to the brim with whiskey excellence, this is something I would love to have around on a regular basis. The ex-Muscat barrels add a wonderful fruitiness to the whisky and compliments the base spirit beautifully. But it’s not all fruits and sweetness, that would have ruined the whiskey.

What really makes this whiskey a dram I keep coming back to is the malty, earthy and slightly leathery notes that give it structure and presence. The Teeling Revival Volume IV Muscat Cask 15 Years is a darn good whiskey; it’s easy to see why they chose this as the 4th chapter in the Revival series.

SCORE: 4/5
