Islay-based distillery Bruichladdich is preparing for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations [beginning on February 1, 2022] with the twin release of the Bruichladdich Black Art 09.1 and Octomore 12 Series. This year, the Chinese New Year celebrates the year of the tiger.

Bruichladdich Black Art 09.1 were matured in mystery casks [Bruichladdich would not reveal their identity – perhaps they are tiger-themed?], then bottled at 44.1% alcohol by volume [88.2 proof] and are being made available for $535 per bottle.

Meanwhile, The highly-peated 12th series of Octomore touts a trio of five-year-old single malts.

The 12.1 Octomore was aged in ex-American oak casks for five years and is being made available for $195 per bottle.

The 12.2 Octomore was matured in ex-American oak casks for three-and-a-half years before spending 18 months in Sauternes casks and is being made available for $220 per bottle.

The single vintage 12.3 was concocted by placing 75% of the distillate into ex-American oak casks and 25% into Pedro Ximénez solera casks for five years – the resulting liquid will cost you $270 per bottle.
