Each May through October, The Amp at Dant Crossing (also known as just “The Amp” for short), one of the best music venues in Gethsemane, KY, near Bardstown and part of the Log Still Distillery campus, hosts a fantastic lineup of outdoor concerts. The show list features talented, nationally known country, rock, and singer/songwriter musicians, including some fun tribute bands. Heading here for a live concert and a bourbon tasting is one of the best things to do in Bardstown!

The Log Still Distillery has long been a favorite bourbon producer in the area. The Dant family has a rich history in the bourbon industry that dates back almost two centuries. Joseph Dant, the original distiller, was innovative in using a hollowed-out poplar log as a still, which inspired the distillery’s name. They distill various spirits, including bourbon, rye whiskey, and gin. Their flagship products are part of the Monk’s Road brand, which is an homage to the distillery’s historic location near the Abbey of Gethsemani.

There’s no better addition to a tasting at Log Still Distillery than catching a show at The Amp at Dant Crossing, but before you buy your tickets to the upcoming concerts, you’ll want to secure your lodging, and the historic Bourbon Manor is one of the best Bardstown bed and breakfasts. Our charming Inn will become a part of your getaway instead of just a place to keep your things and sleep at night. The Macallan has collaborated with UK-based Bentley Motors to produce The Macallan Horizon – a limited edition single malt whisky, currently scheduled to be made available in Summer 2023.

The Macallan Horizon’s unique bottle design has the bottle presented horizontally in a case and has been created using six up-cycled, repurposed or ethically sourced materials, including recycled copper from spirit stills located within The Macallan’s former distillery; aluminium recovered from the Bentley Motors manufacturing process; recycled wood; recyclable glass; and locally sourced carbon-neutral leather.

The glass bottle within the spiral casing features a 180° twist, representing ‘the mastery of space and time’ and which also means there is no standing base for the bottle.

Details of The Macallan single malt whisky which will be contained in that bottle are expected to arrive sometime next year, closer to the official release date.
