Betty Booze Collabs With Wrexham AFC For Winning Bourbon RTD’s

Betty Booze – the brainchild of actress Blake Lively [“Gossip Girl”] – has expanded from their tonic-and-mixer beginnings in 2021 to their ready-to-drink [RTD] cocktail range which has collaborated with Wrexham Association Football Club (AFC) players, the Welsh club team co-owned by Lively’s husband, actor Ryan Reynolds [“Deadpool”] whose documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” has […]

Betty Booze – the brainchild of actress Blake Lively [“Gossip Girl”] – has expanded from their tonic-and-mixer beginnings in 2021 to their ready-to-drink [RTD] cocktail range which has collaborated with Wrexham Association Football Club (AFC) players, the Welsh club team co-owned by Lively’s husband, actor Ryan Reynolds [“Deadpool”] whose documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” has become a worldwide hit for Hulu and Disney.

The advertising promotional video features Wrexham AFC football players midfielder James Jones, goalkeeper Rob Lainton and midfielder Luke Young competing against one another to sell individual cases of Betty Booze’s three cocktail RTD variants: Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry, Sparkling Tequila with Lemonade and Sparkling Tequila with Lime Shiso – which were launched in June 2023.

Lainton’s bourbon-based narrowly edges out the twin tequila-based cans of the other two players in the contest whose outcome was determined at a supermarket.

Wrexham is currently at the tail end of their world tour before beginning their League Two schedule in the UK and plays the MLS’ Philadelphia Union’s second team tonight in Philadelphia.

Betty Booze cocktail RTD’s are bottled at 4.5% alcohol by volume [nine proof] and are made with sparkling water and real juices in addition to the spirits – containing no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners.

The Betty Booze Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry is – not surprisingly – said to offer notes of apple, ginger and sour cherry but also caramel, marzipan, and rye spice in the bourbon elements.

Getting into the dog days of Summer, we all want a go-to drink to scratch that itch. Beat the heat. Tennessee’s George Dickel (Master Distiller Nicole Austin) has teamed up with canned cocktail brand Social Hour to create just such a concoction – the Bourbon Smash.

Admittingly, we’re not pros on the whiskey canned cocktail “RTD” scene. But with the outdoor thermostat on the up and up, this one caught our eye. In particular, the fact it uses 8 YEAR BOURBON as its base! That’s pretty “cool”;)

What we mean by that, given it’s for a mixed drink, one might expect 4 year stock (or younger) to be the norm. But using a Bourbon base with a very respectable age, well, as they say, better Bourbon makes a better cocktail (or it ought to be saying anyways).

And beside the elder selection range of Bourbon, the brand provided description of “mint Julep meets a whiskey sour” sounds pretty darn refreshing to us.

Fact Sheet

  • “Bourbon Smash”
  • 8 Year Dickel Bourbon
  • 250ml per Can (8.45oz)
  • 20% abv (40 Proof) per Can
  • $28 per 4-pack
  • Available: Starting July in NY retailers. Otherwise, visit www.socialhourcocktails.com

After years and years [and perhaps, years] of bartenders constantly hearing the ordering yelp “Jack and Coke” – Jack Daniel’s has finally cut to the chase and collaborated with Coca-Cola to introduce a canned Jack & Coke RTD beverage.

Brown-Forman-owned Jack Daniel’s combines Coke with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey to create a 5% alcohol by volume [10 proof] canned beverage that should help relieve some of those bartenders’ pains – and a zero-sugar version of the new canned cocktail will also be offered.

Inexplicably, however, the new Jack and Coke RTD beverage will not launch first in the USA, but rather, in Mexico later in 2022.
