Japan-based Nikka has released a pair of limited edition whiskies – Yoichi Single Malt Aromatic Yeast and Miyagikyo Single Malt Aromatic Yeast – as part of their new Discovery series, each highlighting aromas during the fermentation process.
Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Aromatic Yeast showcases aroma reminiscent of ginjyo sake [according to Nikka] and was bottled at 48% alcohol by volume [96 proof].
Nikka claims that Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt Aromatic Yeast offers aromas of apricot and peach and was bottled at 47% alcohol by volume [94 proof].
Only 20,000 bottles of both Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Aromatic Yeast as well as Nikka Miyagikyo Aromatic Yeast are being made available worldwide for $275 per bottle.
