Brother’s Bond Cask Strength Bourbon Review

Brother’s Bond Bourbon was created by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, stars of the CW series, The Vampire Diaries. Similar to their initial release, Brother’s Bond Original Cask Strength Bourbon is made from 3 different mash bills to create an uncut, unfiltered four grain bourbon. It is distilled and aged in Lawrenceburg Indiana, with 70 barrels used to make the final blend. So what’s it like? Read our full review and find out!

Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Bourbon (2022)

Kentucky Owl’s The Wiseman Bourbon was their first release under Master Blender John Rhea. It was originally released back in the Fall of 2021, soon to be followed by The Wiseman Rye in 2022. Notably, The Wiseman Bourbon marked a turning point for Kentucky Owl for a couple of reasons. Read our full review to see our tasting notes and to learn more!

Three Chamber Still

Years ago, Three Chamber Stills were commonly used to produce rye whiskey. The Chamber Still, as it was called, extracts more of the oils from the rye grains than many other stills. Therefore, the resultant whiskey has extra flavor and body. Also, the rye grains used at the time were lower in starch content than they are today. This combination resulted in a very rich and flavorful spirit.

Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Rye

Dixon Dedman, the great-grandson of Kentucky Owl’s founder, revived the brand back in 2014. Their initial The Wiseman release, back in September 2021, was a bourbon. Kentucky Owl released The Wiseman Rye in April 2022. So what’s it like? Read our review to find out!

Blue Run Emerald Rye

Blue Run Spirits recently released their second rye, Blue Run Emerald Rye. Golden Rye, which I have reviewed previously, was their first. In contrast to the Golden Rye, Emerald Rye was contract distilled by Blue Run Liquid Advisor Jim Rutledge at Castle & Key Distillery. In addition, Emerald Rye is bottled at barrel proof whereas Golden Rye was bottled at 95 proof. So how is the new Emerald Rye? Read our full review to find out!

Pursuit United Rye Review

Kenny Coleman and Ryan Cecil, the creators of the Bourbon Pursuit podcast, founded Pursuit Spirits in 2018. They initially produced select sourced single barrels under the Pursuit Series label, but now focus on their own brand of blended whiskeys, Pursuit United. They released their first whiskey, a bourbon, back in early 2021, followed by their rye, later that year. The Pursuit United Rye that I am reviewing today is their second rye release, designated by Batch 7CC on the label. So how is it? Check out our full review to find out!

Knob Creek 12 Year Bourbon

Knob Creek 12 Year Old Bourbon was first released back in 2019 as a limited edition, but became a permanent member of the Knob Creek line in 2020. It was initially released at 100 proof, similar to their flagship 9 year bourbon. Interestingly, at the time of Knob 12 Year’s release, the flagship bourbon had no age statement. Beam removed it back in 2016 citing shortages of 9 year old whiskey, but then brought it back in 2020. Also, to add to the confusion, their was a brief limited release of Knob Creek 12 year at cask strength back in the Fall of 2020. So how is the Knob Creek 12 Year Old Bourbon? Read our review and find out!
