Fettercairn distillery has announced the 2023 release of their pioneering, limited-edition, Scottish Oak-matured Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Fettercairn 18 Year Old.

First launched to market in 2022, the release of Fettercairn 18 Year Old marked a new dawn in progressive whisky making as the whisky enjoys a unique, hand-crafted finish in 100% locally sourced Scottish Oak barrels.

Fettercairn 18 Year Old is the complete embodiment of Fettercairn’s values and their commitment to the future of progressive, flavor led, whisky making. This expression is both innovative in style and substance and celebrates what makes Fettercairn different, from their unusual tropical house style – achieved by the unique copper cooling ring distillation – to their future-focused approach to local sourcing.

Golden amber in color, expect aromas of sugared almonds, baking spices and a tropical sweetness of passion fruit and guava. To taste, enjoy exotic syruped fruits, patisserie sugars, brioche and spices with soft hints of berry fruit. To finish, savor soft spice, cacao and natural vanilla.

Fettercairn 18 Year Old is created through a marriage of American White Oak casks and a hand-crafted finish in 100% Scottish Oak. Non-chill filtered and natural in color, this whisky has been bottled perfectly at an ABV of 46.8% and consumers can expect to enjoy the same great quality liquid in this 2023 edition, as with the initial 2022 release.

Beyond the 18 years dedicated to making this remarkable whisky, this Single Malt is part of something truly significant. Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass founded the ground-breaking Scottish Oak Program which, whilst born at Fettercairn distillery, was created to ultimately support the drinks industry for generations to come.

Scottish Oak imparts incredible flavor and the program – which has seen ancient forests replanted as well as skills honed in sawmills and cooperages – has created a circular economy for future whisky makers.

Gregg Glass was named as Global Master Distiller of the Year at the Icons of Whisky Awards, in part for his innovative and pioneering work on the Scottish Oak Programme, which has also since been awarded the industry’s Innovation of the Year*, reflecting this pioneering approach to flavor-led whisky making.

The first release of Fettercairn 18 Year Old received an overwhelmingly positive response from whisky lovers and curious explorers alike. With liquid scarce, it is anticipated that the 2023 annual release will be highly sought after.

Fettercairn 18 Year Old 2023 limited-edition annual release, will be available to purchase from premium and specialist retailers from June onwards in key markets including UK, France and Germany, priced at £200 ($275).

For those keen to explore Fettercairn and take a journey through unexpected flavour experiences, further whiskies available in the core collection include a 12 Year Old, 22 Year Old and a 28 Year Old.  Fettercairn also has a number of rare and aged whiskies including 40, 46 and 50 Year Old expressions, as well as an experimental series, The Warehouse Collection, which concluded this year.

Bardstown Bourbon Company’s upcoming “Discovery Series #10” will debut Friday, June 2nd at their distillery gift shop and also nationwide at select locations. This release is a specially crafted blend of 5 different sourced Bourbons. Credit to BBCo for their pristine transparency.

88% of this release is from Kentucky based Bourbon. Interesting, 10% hailing from the Peach State, and a 10 year Bourbon at that. Remaining 2% stock from Tennessee. Age wise, 92% of the blend is 9yr – 13yr stock.

Per Dan Callaway, VP of Product Development at BBCo,“We’re excited to introduce a new look and feel on the packaging of Discovery #10. Inside you’ll find a trailblazing blend, rooted in Kentucky that explores innovative flavor from unexpected sources.”

BBCo knows how to make whiskey. Their Origin Series Bourbon was one of only two Bourbons to received the highest honor of Gold Outstanding at the “2023 International Wines & Spirits Competition”. Blending sourced whiskies, however, remains core to the brand’s identity, per Callaway, “We know there is a lot of delicious bourbon to be discovered out there, and we love to explore the art of blending to create singular expressions that can’t be replicated.”

Bib & Tucker’s new Double Char Bourbon, Whiskey release is a unique 6-Year-Old Tennessee Bourbon Finished in Heavily Charred and Smoked Barrels. Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon tells BourbonBlog.com they are releasing Bib & Tucker Double Char Bourbon beginning August 2023 at $54.99.

At 88 proof (44% ABV), Bib & Tucker Double Char Bourbon is aged twice to create savory smoky notes and a unique finish. Bib & Tucker Double Char is first aged for six years in Tennessee in new white American oak, followed by a minimum of five months in a second heavily charred and smoked new barrel.

This unique fire-forged double char aging method creates the rich and deep flavor of Bib & Tucker Double Char.

As a Tennessee bourbon, Bib & Tucker tells BourbonBlog.com they follow the Lincoln County process which is unique to the state, meaning the bourbon is filtered through sugar maple charcoal before going into the barrel for aging.

For Double Char, to pay homage to the Lincoln County process, the second barrel is smoked with sugar maple before being filled with the brand’s 6-year-aged bourbon.

Bib & Tucker says it has spent the perfect amount of time in the barrels, the char, and the sugar maple barrel smoking process deliver a bourbon with an inviting savory white smoke flavor not found in any other whiskey on the market.

We’ll bring you our Bourbon review of Double Char soon, but for now here are Bib & Tucker Double Char tasting notes:

· Nose: A touch of smoke with immediate notes of toasted oak and dulce de leche, background notes of cinnamon and clove

· Palate: Vanilla and sugar maple surrounded with white smoke, hints of sweet corn and toasted cinnamon

· Finish: Medium to long finish with oak, white smoke and vanilla

· Color: Deep rich mahogany with copper undertones

Woodford Reserve Bourbon Batch Proof 2023

Batch Proof showcases the flavor nuances created by mingling different Woodford Reserve barrels into one batch – then presenting that bourbon at the exact proof from the barrels.

The liquid showcases a range of sweet aromatics, fruit, spice, wood and grain characteristics at its purest form, not the standard 90.4 proof.

“The trademark flavors of Woodford Reserve are even more pronounced – and bolder – in this celebrated annual release,” McCall tells BourbonBlo.com. “It’s a high-proof bourbon with complex flavors.”
